Bloc leaders say UK must fully implement post-Brexit arrangements for Northern Ireland.

EU leaders have stressed the Northern Ireland protocol must be implemented fully by Boris Johnson to respect the 'rule of law' during a press conference at the G7 in Cornwall on Thursday.

But EU warns ‘faithful implementation’ needed by UK amid concerns saga is not over.

These sticking points include fishing rights, rules on state subsidies for business and arrangements for policing any deal.

Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday it was still uncertain if a deal on the future relationship between the EU and the UK could be struck before the end of the year.

Prime minister had claimed ‘Australia-style’ Brexit could be an option.
