Border Communities Against Brexit will protest at five locations on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic in support of the protocol.

Hundreds of people have taken part in a number of demonstrations on the Irish border in opposition to Brexit. / Border Communities Against Brexit organised the protests to mark the day after Britain had been due to leave the European Union.

A series of demonstrations will be held along the Border next week telling UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to "back off" on plans to trigger Article 16.

Protesters have gathered outside the Irish parliament to call on public representatives to sign a declaration to protect the backstop.

Border Communities Against Brexit have roundly condemned the planned move to introduce a new Electronic Authorisation Scheme for non Irish and UK cross border visitors in the new year.

The campaigning organisation believe that the new UK Prime Minister will override any amendments made in the House of Lords. They also believe that those promoting this Bill need to be honest about the consequences flowing from it, as thousands of jobs are at risk.
